Haiti

     i am sitting on my bed watching and reading online about all that is happening, and not happening, in haiti. it's devastating. it was said in one of the videos on CNN that the number of orphans have tripled since all of this has happened. there are many children who were in the process of being adopted by their parents in other countries and that process in halted now. i can't imagine how those parents must feel, waiting to bring your child home is hard enough. knowing that your baby is in danger must be exscruciating. i got an email from the adoption group i am a part of (our playgroup as i refer to it mostly. :) ) and this was the message:
"Please contact your Senators and urge them to grant Humanitarian Visas to the
254 Haitian orphans who are currently in process of being adopted by Americans.
They now have no way of completing their adoptions and the kids need to get out
of there."
     here is the website for contacting your senator about granting humanitarian visas for the orphans in haiti who are in the current process of being adopted. the website lists the web pages of senators, their websites offer a simple way to contact them under email (an online form you can fill out.) a few of our group members have already done this. they said it only took a few minutes. anything that may help get those children out of there!
      this video made me cry. i wish i could go pick up some of those children and bring them home, safe to my house.
     prayring for all of those in haiti. and my heart goes out to all the families in other countries with connections to haiti.

(another message from yahoo group) "We are collecting donations in the Utah area of water sanitation supplies, personal care items, medicines and first aid supplies to be sent to Haiti as soon as we can get a team of volunteers together. If you or someone you know would like to send donations, these donations will be for orphanages hit hardest by yesterday's earthquake. Donations can be dropped off or mailed to: FEC Haiti
Relief, 9888 North 6110 West, Highland, UT 84003. As a 501c3 organization, we can provide receipts to those who need them and request them. We're also taking monetary donations through PayPal if anyone wants to contact me privately for that information.


The LDS Church Humanitarian Org is a great way to donate as well as the Red Cross. We're just working to make sure we can get needed supplies to the Foyer orphanages specifically when we can get volunteers there.
