Great News!

i got this article in and email tonight and cried when i read it to sean. this is SUCH a small fraction of the children and babies that are orphans in haiti, but it is great news that 400 of them are out of there and with loving families. i am happy, proud of america, and proud of the netherlands. hopefully other countries will follow suit and get more children out of haiti. CNN article:

Haitian orphans rushed to new homes abroad

Is it really possible that the number 380,000 orphans in Haiti BEFORE this earthquake is true...that is sooooo sad. Glad that the US and other countries are getting some children out of there to adoptive families.

Hasn't this whole thing been absolutely heart-wrenching?? I'm so glad to see at least some of these babies have made it safely into their homes. I just want to hold and hug each one of them.

i keep thinking that honestly, there are tens of MILLIONS of orphans in africa, they had no earthquake and they are still homeless, mother and fatherless, have no access to medical care or clean water, and hundreds of thousands if not more are dying every.single.day. There is an orphan crisis everyday, isn't it so sad? It took this devastating event for some people to even recognize people live like this. I wish the world would open their eyes.

michele, you are SO right. sean and i said the same thing last night. even in the US there are so many kids who are homeless, in foster care, or who are in neglectful, abusive homes. hard to think about.
