Summer Hair

last saturday the interracial adoption group we are in had a hair day (a day we all get together and do our girls hair. some do relaxers, some do extensions. some do braiding...) at our friend kim's house. one of the ladies in the group has a few teenage daughters that are very good at braiding. i decided that we are going to keep quincy's hair in braided styles most of the summer. it will help keep her cooler and help protect her hair while we are swimming and out in the sun. and we just spray with product and go! this was her first time having anyone but me do her hair.  it took one hour. the longest i have done her hair is probably 15 minutes. but she did great! she held very still and only fussed a little. and after, she loved them! they have stayed in great all week, but they're getting fuzzy. i'll probably take them out tomorrow and then have it done again in a few days. i have some cute styles in mind and i'm excited to see her hair done in different ways. she is getting to be such a big girl.

here are the two sprays i have for quincy's braids. the african pride braid sheen i just got at sally's. i figured it wouldn't be too conditioning, but it was inexpensive and i like the smell and shine it gives her hair.

and the taliah waajid protective mist bodifier is great! (a lot of you who have girls with ethnic hair already use this, thanks for sharing the info with me!) here's where i found it for the best price.
